The semi-trucks were unveiled for the first time in 2017. Food and beverages like Doritos and Mountain Dew will soon be delivered to stores by a completely electric Tesla Semi.<\/p>\n<p>PepsiCo, which makes everything from Lays to Cheetos, plans to ship its first battery-powered trucks by the end of this year. Tesla has a record of missing a deadline for its vehicle launch, but the Semi truck appears to have hit the road earlier than Elon Musk expected.<\/p>\n<p>PepsiCo chief executive Ramon Laguarta said on CNBC on Monday that the trucks were part of the company&#8217;s efforts to reduce transportation-related emissions. Tesla has a history of missing car launch deadlines, but the Semi truck looks to have hit the road sooner than Elon Musk anticipated.<\/p>\n<p>On CNBC on Monday, PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta stated that the vehicles were part of the company&#8217;s efforts to minimize transportation-related emissions. &#8220;Transportation accounts for around 10% of our overall emissions,&#8221; he stated. &#8220;As a result, it&#8217;s critical that we strive to come up with other answers,&#8221; Laguarta added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re starting to acquire Tesla electric trucks,&#8221; he stated. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want to promote to anyone, but this is the brand we&#8217;re still using, and our first delivery is due in the fourth quarter.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PepsiCo anticipates that the first batch of Tesla Semi trucks will be delivered before the end of 2021.
